Bold Beaver
By Wayne Potash copyright 2013

I saw a beaver
He was swimming all alone
He’s got some sticks
And he’s building a home
He’s working all day
And all night too
He’s not scared of me
And he’s sure not scared of you

He’s a bold beaver swimming in the bog
He’s a bold beaver bigger than a frog
He’s a bold beaver chewing on a log

He’s a friend to the turtles
The birds, fish, and frogs
He’s using his teeth
To cut down some logs
They float in the river
He pulls them in tow
His head’s above the water
But his body’s down low

He’s a bold beaver … Chew chew…

I watched as he worked
I watched as he swam
His tail is like a paddle
He’s building a dam
He’s stacking up those sticks
And packing them with mud
He’s swimming underwater
While the stream starts to flood

He’s a bold beaver swimming in the bog
He’s a bold beaver bigger than a frog
He’s a bold chewing on a log, Chew chew…
